Coastguard teams and police search for missing person on sands at Morecambe

Morecambe Coastguard team co-ordinated a search for a missing person out on the sands at Morecambe with police and the Arnside and south Lakes coastguard rescue team.

The teams were called out at 2.30am on Sunday, May 31, to join the search for the missing person.

Coastguard teams said thanks has to go to the RNLI hovercraft who quickly found the person and brought them safely ashore where they were handed over to the waiting emergency services.

A spokesman for Arnside and south Lakes coastguard rescue team said: "We were also treated to the beautiful phenomenon of noctilucent clouds, over The Midland Hotel.

"Followed by a stunning sunrise back at Arnside when we returned home around 4am."
