City firm features on national TV show

Lancaster-based design and digital agency Fat Media have had one of their latest branding projects featured on Channel 5's The Hotel Inspector.

More than 1.5 million viewers tuned in to see if Alex Polizzi could reverse the fortunes of Irish eco-lodge Gyreum.

The award-winning hotelier identified that Gyreum’s website and overall branding was not up to scratch, and enlisted the help of Fat Media to rectify this.

The design team at Fat Media completely overhauled the brand, using innovative techniques to create something truly unique.

To embed the Gyreum brand into the beautiful location it inhabits, colours were chosen from the local flora and fauna, while the logo was developed using the shape of the lodge itself as inspiration.

Gyreum is a unique lodge, so the designers strayed far off the beaten track in their methods. Rather than sticking to their Macs, the team created a handmade font and logo by carving a template on recycled linoleum and printing it.

Head of brand consultancy at Fat Media, David Adams, said “This was a truly creative branding process, and by thinking outside the box we have been able to produce a brand identity which really captures the essence of the Gyreum.”

The concept has been carried forward onto a new website design, with the full new site under construction by Fat Media’s development team for go-live later in the summer.
