Child airlifted to hospital after motorbike crash

A Fleetwood motorcyclist suffered serious leg and arm injuries after he was involved in a head-on crash in Forton, say police.

The 39-year-old man was riding with a child pillion passenger along Park Lane on Wednesday just after 7pm, when he was involved in a collision with a Mazda 5.

The child, a 10 year-old boy also from Fleetwood, was thrown from the bike.

The rider was taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital with serious leg and arm injuries. Police say he is currently in a poorly but stable condition.

The boy was airlifted to Alder Hey Hospital to be checked over after suffering minor injuries.

The Mazda driver – a 41 year old woman from Garstang - suffered bruising.

Sgt Chris Evans from the Road Policing Unit said: “If anyone saw this incident or the vehicles in the lead up to it happening, please speak to us as you may have vital information that could assist with our investigation.”
