Cheryl Howe, 34, of Clarence Street, Morecambe, will also be joining forces with a good friend who has also raised money for The Eve Appeal but for very different reasons.

Cheryl said: “The Eve Appeal helped me get my diagnosis for womb cancer. I’d been to my GP and he said it was IBS. I went on the internet and typed in my symptoms and The Eve Appeal popped up.

“I contacted them and they said I should ask for a CT scan which helped me get my cancer diagnosis. I suffer from Polycystic Ovarian syndrome and have also had ovarian cancer and cervical cancer, as well as womb cancer. I have now had a hysterectomy.

“I held a fundraiser last October for The Eve Appeal which raised £1200 and that is how I met Vicky Mount. She lost a friend to ovarian cancer and has done various fundraisers for the charity.

“We have become good friends, and she has been brilliant. She sent me the first text message after my operation which said: ‘keep fighting, hope you are doing well.’ We support the charity for very different reasons, me because they helped me get my cancer diagnosis and Vicky because she lost her friend to ovarian cancer.

“It’s a shame her friend didn’t get to know about The Eve Appeal because they may have been able to help her. This will be the first fundraiser we are organising together.”
