CCTV appeal after Morecambe pub attack

Police have released a CCTV image of a man in a bid to trace him after an attack on bar staff in a pub in Morecambe.

Officers were called to The William Mitchell pub on Glentworth Road West following reports a group of men had attacked a man in the back room.

When bar staff tried to intervene, the men allegedly attacked them before leaving through a side door.

Det Con Jill Neil, of West CID, said: “This was a particularly nasty incident and we are keen to speak to the man pictured in connection with our enquiries.

“If anyone recognises him or has any information that could help us to trace him I would urge them to contact us.”

The incident happened at 8.30pm on Boxing Day (Saturday December 26, 2015)

*Two men, both from Lancaster, were arrested following the incident.

Alexander Varey, 25, of Clare Road, Lancaster, was charged with violent disorder and grievous bodily harm, while Frank Varey, 33, also of Clare Road, was charged with violent disorder.

Both are due to appear at Preston Crown Court in April.
