A NEW vintage fashion auction house is set to open in Carnforth by fashion fan and and dedicated seller Catherine Oldham.

Wiggins Auctioneers will be the only specialist vintage fashion and accessories auction house outside London, with its first sale on May 25 in Carnforth.

Auctions will run every two months selling quality antique and vintage clothing and accessories, and Catherine is currently inviting local people to sell their items or to come along and enjoy the auction experience.

Wiggins Auctioneers will run live auctions where buyers can buy in person at the Carnforth saleroom or on-line.

The concept was created as Catherine wanted to enable people across Lancashire to sell their vintage clothing while still being able to sell UK wide.

Local people looking to sell their unwanted antique and vintage clothing and accessories will realise the best prices possible by selling to collectors and dealers in the UK and worldwide.

Wiggins Auctioneers will value the items and organise collection of goods for sale from addresses across the North West in Alfie Wiggins, their vintage VW Campervan.

Wiggins Auctioneers is owned by Lancashire lass, Catherine Oldham, a former teacher who has also been selling vintage clothing on line and at vintage fairs as Dolly Wiggins for a number of years.

Catherine’s first ever auction purchase was a 1930s wedding dress which she loved so much that she refused to sell and decided to get married just so that she could wear it herself, and it is a family affair, with vintage-loving daughters Grace and Tess helping out.

Whether it is an individual item or a wardrobe full, they will take a look and give an estimate of its value.

For buyers, there will be individual items right through to job lots of clothing for vintage boutique owners to stock their rails.

On viewing and sales days, buyers can enjoy the vintage tea rooms before bidding at a traditional auction. For those who can’t attend the sale, it is easy to watch the live broadcast of the sale and bid on-line from home.

WA’s first auction on 25th May is entitled ‘Vintage summer clothing and accessories’ and is currently seeking consignments to complete the catologue for this sale. Potential sellers are invited to get in contact to discuss selling items.
