YOUNG footballers are homeless after vandals trashed their clubhouse, causing it to be condemned on health and safety grounds.
Volunteer officials at Carnforth Rangers FC, one of the oldest amateur football clubs in the area, with 200 child members, need to raise up to £70,000 for new facilities.
Louts wrecked the changing area, ripped off roof slates, smashed toilets and tore out plumbing. They even stole small nets and goalposts used by the club’s juniors.
Russell Pritchard, junior club chairman, said: “It’s like a scene from Beirut. We’re trying to do something good for the community. We have all these people putting all this effort in, and then someone does this.”
