Independent Morecambe cable company Smallworld has been bought by Virgin Media.

The White Lund-based firm provides internet, broadband and TV to around 12,000 homes in the Lancaster district.

Customers have been told that services will continue as normal for the time being.

A statement on its website said: “Smallworld’s incredible fibre optic network is a perfect fit for Virgin Media so you won’t see any changes or interruptions to your current services while we do a little work behind the scenes to make sure everything is as simple and seamless as possible.”
