MEMBERS at the Lancastrer branch of Total Fitness, which closed suddenly last month, have won their battle to get fees refunded.
The Cheshire-based gym chain initially refused to say whether they would give any money back to members who had paid in advance. Instead, Total Fitness suggested that the 4,000 gym-goers from the Caton Road facility used either VVV health club in Hest Bank or the company’s branch in Preston.
But dozens of gym members contacted Craig Hollingdrake, managing partner at Jobling & Knape solicitors, following a report in the Lancaster Guardian.
Mr Hollingdrake had said he was hopeful his firm could help members reclaim the fees paid for any unexpired membership period.
And Total Fitness have now backed down and begun repaying the money they owe.
