St Nicholas Arcades has announced plans to pay the living wage to its cleaners.
Cleanall Services of Leyland were one of the first businesses outside London to be recognised as a Living Wage service provider.
The firm has had a contract to provide cleaning services at the shopping arcades for 10 years.
Jerry North, St Nicholas Arcades centre manager, said: “We are seeing an increase in footfall to the centre from not only local customers but also as Lancaster is developing as a tourist destination.
“To reflect this we have realigned our cleaning provision and the living wage was a natural progression for us”.
