A CO-OPERATIVE business specialising in organic food is to issue shares as it celebrates its 10th birthday by embarking on a £150,000 development programme.
Growing With Grace, a social enterprise operating from two acres of greenhouses off the A65 at Clapham, delivers organic fruit, vegetables and groceries to homes around North Yorkshire, the Lune Valley and Lancaster.
It also sells fair trade imported goods in its shop to support farmers in developing countries.
Until about three years ago all was going well, but competition from supermarkets then sparked a downturn in sales which almost killed off the enterprise.
That has prompted a re-think of the operation and the launch of a share scheme on Saturday, April 9 with the aim of raising £100,000 for new developments.
It is hoped grants and loans will cover the other £50,000.
