Pub in line for best food gong

THE Hest Bank Inn has won through to the finals of the Morning Advertiser’s Great British Pub awards in the Best Food Pub category.

The pub will now be visited by judges on a number of occasions in the run-up to the awards ceremony in London on Thursday, September 8.

Its nomination comes after national newspaper The Guardian named it as one of the top ten places to eat on the North West coast.

Head chef Heath Darcy, who has been at the pub since owners Robert Glenn and Robert Marshall-Slater bought it four years ago, said: “It’s a great achievement that recognises the hard work and team spirit that we have at the Hest Bank.”

The pub is known for local specialities like Lancashire hot pot and potted shrimps and also has a specials board which changes daily.
