A NURSERY nurse is the latest young apprentice to endorse the Lancaster Guardian’s new 100 in 100 campaign.

The initiative, run in conjunction with Lancaster and Morecambe College, aims to persuade local firms to take on 100 new apprentices in 100 days.

Victoria Wilson, 18, has just completed a college apprenticeship at Nippers Nursery on Westgate, Morecambe.

It has helped her to secure a place at Salford University to study for a degree in nursing and social work.

She deferred her place for a year to take up a full-time post at the nursery as she saves up to fund her studies.

Victoria, who began her apprenticeship after leaving Ripley St Thomas CE School, said she supported the 100 in 100 campaign.

“It’s a good thing because there’s not many jobs around at the moment and most people who leave high school like me do not want to be stuck in a classroom all day.

“My apprenticeship has been a good hands-on experience.

“My sister was doing an apprenticeship through the college and after having a bad experience with a training provider I followed her advice and contacted Lancaster & Morecambe College.”
