RESIDENTS close to a proposed new hotel development near Dolphinholme say that an increase in traffic in the area could be “lethal”.

Plans to convert the Grade II Listed Wyreside Hall, in Wagon Road, into a £4m five star hotel and leisure complex have been submitted to Wyre Borough Council and, if approved, work on the development could start next year.

This week, the owner and developer was revealed to be the Rogerson family, who, their agents say, live near to the hall, and have done so for many years.

Sarah Rogerson has been named as Wyreside Hall estate manager, and the hall purchase is financed by her family’s business interests.

Last week, the Lancaster District Chamber of Commerce welcomed plans for the development, which could create up to 75 jobs and give a new lease of life to the building.

But people living in Wagon Road and Tinkers Lane said an increase in traffic could be dangerous and detrimental to the area.
