The Duchy of Lancaster, which owns Lancaster Castle and swathes of land across the country, has appointed a new chairman.
Mark Hudson has been appointed as the next Chairman of the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster, and will succeed Lord Shuttleworth who took up the post of chairman in January 2006 and who will retire at the end of 2014.
Lord Shuttleworth said: “It has been a privilege to serve 16 years on the Council and nine as chairman.
“I would like to thank everyone for their dedication and hard work over the period of my tenure and I wish Mark all the very best for the future.”
Mark Hudson, who joined the Duchy Council in June 2006, will take over as chairman on January 1 2015.
Mark was born into a farming and trawling family in the East Riding.
He read agriculture at Cambridge before he began dairy farming in 1979.
Mark is a former president of the Country Land and Business Association and also a former chairman of the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust.
He is currently Chairman of NWF Group Plc and continues to champion innovative agricultural businesses in all that he does.
