Confusion over DFS sign application

MYSTERY surrounds a planning application by furniture giant DFS to put its signs and logo up on the PC World shop in Lancaster – after the computer retailer said it was going nowhere.

The plans were submitted to Lancaster City Council last week, and DFS initially said it was looking to move into the building at Kingsway Retail Park in Caton Road, in November.

But when the Lancaster Guardian contacted PC World to find out when it would be closing to make way for the DFS, a spokeswoman said “we are definitely not moving out in November.”

A spokeswoman for DFS said that there would be a brand new store, with a new staff base, and that the store should be ready to open around November 19 as part of plans to roll out new stores across the country.
