Anger at bowling green flats

RESIDENTS in Bowerham have expressed outrage at plans to build 70 student flats on a bowling green.

Mitchells Brewery, which owns the Bowerham Hotel, wants to build the flats on the bowling green next to the pub.

But residents living close to the site say the plans would drastically cut their light and privacy, as well as adding to the area’s parking problems.

Residents were invited to a public exhibition at the pub in Bowerham Road last week, where many were shocked at the scale of the proposals.

Mitchells plan a four-storey T-shaped block of 64 flats, with an additional six flats in a separate outbuilding.

Parking spaces would be made available for up to 26 vehicles.
