Nearly a quarter of the 214 new houses under construction in Lancaster’s St George’s Quay have now been built.
Progress at the new Barratt Homes’ Riverside View development, which got underway last week, has been described as “excellent” by the house building company.
Mark Burton, senior regional construction manager for Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “Progress at Riverside View is excellent.
“Of the 214 plots available, 50 have already been built.
“When complete, 43 two bedroom affordable homes will be provided to Lancaster City Council, and 24 homes are to be sold via the Help to Buy scheme. The development will offer a mix of 2,3 and 4 bedroom homes.
“In addition, a £10,000 contribution has been made to Lancaster City Council by Barratt Homes Manchester to improve off site cycle ways, as well as a further £3,500 towards the improvement of off-site footpaths.
“The planned Public Open Space – the focal point within the development which will provide a children’s play area/park - is currently being installed and landscaped.
“This is an ambitious project, and we expect to be on site for three to four years in total.”
Redrow Homes is also developing new homes along the quay.
