A Quernmore Primary School pupil has been inspired to win at Crufts by her heroes Ashleigh and Pudsey.

Hollie Walsh entered the world of dog training after seeing the Britain’s Got Talent winners on the TV.

Hollie, 10, reaped the ultimate reward when she and her poodle Simba won in the Young Kennel Club Under 12s Medium Jumping category at the world’s largest dog show, held at the NEC in Birmingham last weekend.

A member of the Lune Valley Dog Agility Club, Hollie has only been competing since Simba was old enough in December 2015.

Her story began when she watched Ashleigh Butler and her ‘dancing dog’ Pudsey win the hit TV talent show in 2012.

She did lots of research about the type of dog she wanted and settled on a poodle, Simba, which she bought herself in August 2014.

Hollie trained him at home herself and then joined Lune Valley when Simba was old enough last Easter.

She trains every Tuesday night at the Thoroughbred Retraining Centre in Aughton.

Hollie qualified for Crufts as her first show in December 2015, the last chance to qualify. Hollie lives in Bay Horse, Lancaster.
