“Without this generosity, me and my family’s lives would have taken an awful lot longer to get back to some sort of normality.” As a way of repaying the faith that these amazing charities have shown, Stuart, known as Robbo, and a few of his close friends are taking part in numerous challenges throughout the year.

Stuart said: “Basically myself and a few others from the RAF, mainly Darren Norman who is also from Heysham, are competing in a few events.

“Firstly is Airfield Anarchy, on June 13, which is a 10Km obstacle course and I will be doing it in the off road wheelchair.

“After this I am swimming in the open water one mile swim at Manchester docks.

“I am also hand biking from Paris to London twice.

“There are a of a number of charities we are raising awareness and funds for that have helped me out since being injured in Afghanistan 2013.

“These are the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF Association and Blesma.

“We will be in Morrisons in Morecambe on June 7and Sainsburys in Lancaster on September 6.”
