Bowland, Lake District and Norwegian Fjords influence Lancaster band's new music

The band travelled to a studio in the Norwegian fjords to write the music and the mood and natural beauty of the location will no doubt be reflected in the new songs.

Elements comes out on August 3 and includes the songs Here We Are, If You Leave Me Now and Walking On Fire, as well as their final track Searching.

Moving across the genre spectrum to a slightly more pop sound, the epic soundscapes that the band have become synonymous with is still inherently there, as is Evie’s precociously huge vocal, but this a statement of intent that sees them look towards the likes of Florence & The Machine.

Lead singer Evie Plumb said: “This is the culmination of a long and exciting creative process that has seen us travel to a studio in the Norwegian fjords to write this earthy collection of music and shoot a short film about the experience.

“We recorded the whole thing in our home studio just south of Lancaster and shot music videos for each track in the surrounding hills and moors of Bowland and the Lake District.

“We’ve been so overwhelmed and pleased with the response to the songs, both online and at festivals this summer, we’re chomping at the bit to keep writing and release more music as the months progress.

“Searching is perhaps the most energetic of all our songs so far and it’s one that really gets people going when we play live.

“We hope this EP shows the spectrum of our sound at the moment, we love creating really intimate, peaceful, even sombre moments with our music but we also love to make people dance and, hopefully, that scope is captured in the four songs that make up this EP.”

Lowes was born when Evie met guitarist Jamie Walker and drummer Luke Paget while performing on the Lancaster music scene.
