Police said they were called by a resident in the Branksome Drive area of Westgate regarding a suspicious man purporting to be from Lancashire Constabulary asking for money.

He is described as being a white man in his 30s with light brown curly hair wearing a long black jacket.

He briefly flashed some form of card as identification.

A spokesman for Morecambe Police said: “ Lancashire Constabulary officers will never ask for donations and will always show clearly personal identification. If you are ever unsure before opening your door please do so with your security chain being in place.

“Suspicious activity can be reported by contacting us on 101.”
