Biker suffers multiple fractures in road crash

Police are appealing for information after a motorcyclist was seriously injured close to Carnforth.

Police were called around 5.40pm on Friday to reports of an accident at the junction of the A6 and Nineteen Acre Lane.

A 47-year-old man was found at the scene with serious hip and leg injuries.

Officers believe the man had been riding a Yamaha motorbike northbound on the A6 when he approached the junction with Nineteen Acre Lane and Tarn Lane.

A Ford Focus, travelling west on Tarn Lane, attempted to cross the junction but collided with the motorbike, knocking the man from the vehicle.

The motorcyclist suffered multiple fractures to his hip and knee, as well as a head injury and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford Focus, an 85-year-old woman from Silverdale, was uninjured.

The road was closed for three hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Sgt Adam Dawson, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Yealand Conyers.

“One of the motorists suffered severe injuries and we are keen to speak to anyone who can help us.

“If you saw the incident, or either vehicle before the collision, please contact police.”
