Bid for Lancaster Canal Quarter committee
The Lancaster Conservative Group is calling for a sub-committee of Lancaster City Council to be formed to set the future of the Canal Corridor project.
“We will be supporting amendments to Labour’s recommended position on their Canal Corridor u-turn,” said Peter Williamson, Lancaster Conservative group leader.

This comes after the city council announced a change of plans for the development – rebranding it the Canal Quarter.
Council and Labour group leader, Coun Eileen Blamire, said: “We want the best for Lancaster and a scheme that residents, businesses and visitors can take pride in.
“A cross-party council Canal Quarter Cabinet Liaison Group will be able to input into the scheme and there will be consultation with the community.
