Balloons released from Heysham caravan park in memory of Manchester terror victims

Balloons with messages to the victims of the Manchester terror attack were released from Ocean Edge caravan park.

Over the weekend over 200 people gathered in the beer garden at Ocean Edge caravan park and wrote their own personal messages on balloon tags with the Manchester emblem.

Messages were also written to anyone who found a balloon that had made its way to them to call Ocean Edge.

General manager Daniel Thornton said: “We invited over 200 people to the beer garden at 2pm on Saturday and between 230 and 240 balloons were released.

“We didn’t set out to do a fundraiser but on the day we raised £184 which was matched by our sales team.

“Ocean Edge charity group put the money up to £1000.

“It was a real team effort with my entertainments manager Geoff Still and all the other team members getting involved. It wasa real heartfelt effort.

“I have been contacted by a man called Alan Cockerill who said a balloon with messages for the Manchester victims had made its way up to the Scottish borders and the town of Jedburgh where he lived, and he had read the messages. “
