Celebrations will take place across the county this weekend in recognition of Armed Forces Week.
Flags were raised across the county earlier this week in Morecambe, Lancaster, Preston, Leyland, and Chorley, to kick off the celebrations and a special Armed Forces parade will see servicemen and women march across the city on Saturday.
HM Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, The Lord Shuttleworth KCVO, handed the flag over to the Chairman of Lancashire County Council, County Coun Michael Devaney, at a ceremony held at County Hall in Preston on Monday.
Lord Shuttleworth said: “We owe our veterans a debt of gratitude for their service.
“These flags are a reminder to us all that we must not forget that debt. Armed Forces week is an opportunity to raise public awareness of the contribution made by those who serve or have previously served our country.”
In Morecambe on Saturday afternoon a Service of Celebration will be held at St Barnabas’ Church on Regent Road starting at 2.30pm followed by refreshments organised by the Royal Air Force Association.
A celebration concert by Morecambe Brass Band comes to the Winter Gardens theatre on Saturday night.
