Appeal after bookies burglary

A LARGE sum of cash was stolen from a safe during a burglary at a bookmakers in Carnforth last month.

Police said the burglary took place at 1.40am on May 21 at the Betfred shop on Market Street when two people, both dressed in black, broke in through the front door and stole the contents of the safe.

DC Trevor Walker from Lancaster CID said: “The offenders forced the metal door lock to get inside the premises before making a search of the counter and stealing a significant amount of money from the safe.

“An investigation into this offence is continuing but I would appeal to anybody with any information about this burglary or anyone that saw anything suspicious in the Market Street area in the early hours of May 21 to come forward.”

Anyone with any information should call Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
