Appeal after attempted robbery in Lancaster

A 20-year-old student was punched in the face during an attempted robbery.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at midnight on Wednesday, October 14.

The student was approached from behind as he walked along Portland Street in Lancaster with his phone in his hand.

He was punched several times in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

The robber began to bang the victim’s hand on the ground in an attempt to get hold of his phone before leaving the scene empty handed.

The victim suffered concussion and swelling to his face as a result of the attack.

He was unable to provide a description of his attacker.

DC Jill Neil of Lancaster CID said: “This was a nasty attack on a young man who was simply walking to his car which was parked nearby. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to get in touch with us.”
