David Brayshaw, chairman of Morecambe Carnival’s organising committee, said: “I think it is absolutely amazing to get Alesha, it is one of the biggest names we have had in the three years.
“Morecambe Carnival is becoming a small festival, people can’t believe it is free.”
Alesha, who first shot to fame in girl group Mis-teeq, will be joining Scouting For Girls on May 1.

Carnival-goers can expect more exhibitions and rides during the weekend of April 30 and May 1.
A circus will replace last year’s ‘It’s a Knock Out’ on Saturday and a new fun zone for smaller children will be in the Midland Hotel’s gardens.
A bigger fairground will be at the Dome Arena and parachutists from Black Knight Parachute Centre will be dropping in.

David said: “First aid costs have gone from £100 to £3,000 as we now need an ambulance on site. It is more pressurised but we know what to expect and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Expect maybe another big name announced soon, it’s not over yet.”
