Aircraft makes crash landing on moorland

TWO people escaped with minor injuries after their light aircraft made a forced landing on Ingleborough Moor on Monday evening.

The Cessna plane, travelling from Blackpool towards Kirkby Lonsdale via Clitheroe, landed at 9.18pm on the moor near Settle, between Rathmell and Wham.

The pilot, a 55-year-old man from Blackpool, suffered minor injuries, while the 31-year-old passenger from Blackburn suffered a broken nose and ankle.

Both men were taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary for treatment.

The Civil Aviation Authority and Air Crash Investigation have both been informed of the accident, which Clapham Cave Rescue also assisted with.
