Accountants take charity challenge in their stride

The team walked seven miles, from Gibraltar Farm Campsite in Silverdale to the finish line in Cumbria, and the challenge was deemed one of the hardest yet due to the windy conditions.

John Lyon, ICS managing director, said: “The Cross Bay Challenge certainly was a challenge due to the windy conditions, but I am extremely proud of the ICS team who took the unpleasant weather in their stride and walked seven miles to raise as much money as possible for CancerCare.

“The weather might’ve been unpleasant, but it was worth every minute of discomfort to raise money for CancerCare, which is such an incredible charity that helps so many local people in Lancaster and the surrounding areas.”

The walk was ICS’s second charity fundraising event in the firm’s drive to raise £5,000 over the next 12 months for CancerCare and Defying Dementia.

Christine Wardle, head of income generation at CancerCare, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the ICS team for taking part in the toughest (and windiest) Cross Bay Challenge so far.

“We are so grateful to everyone who battled the bay for CancerCare and are literally blown away by the efforts of everyone who took part.”
