100 dancers take to stage to help brave tot Pippa

A hundred girls and women from the Paula Boscott School of Dance Garstang, raised the curtain on ‘Strictly Showtime’ bringing the glamour and glitz of Hollywood to The Grand Theatre in Lancaster, donating the proceeds of the show to the Pippa Cole Fund.

Audiences were wowed by an action packed programme of blockbuster routines to the movies and musicals.

Singer Paige Dickason also took to the stage with performances of ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’ from Funny Girl and ‘On My Own’ from Les Miserable.

Dancers displayed a range of routines from four year olds foxtrotting to children cha cha chaing and teenagers tangoing, as well as Ballroom, Latin, Rock n Roll and Freestyle

The school, based at Scorton Village Hall and Kirkland Memorial Hall, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2015 and school owner Paula Boscott said it was a perfect way to mark the occasion as well as raise money.

She added: “We were very proud of our adult dancers who took part. It can be very nerve wracking to appear on stage for the first time in front of two full audiences, but they put the nerves to one side, and put on a strictly fabulous performance.

“To bring our show to a close myself and my husband David performed the last dance of the show. Just a teeny bit of pressure there!

“We were very fortunate Pippa and her mum were able to attend the matinee performance, and she loved it.”

“We are hoping to be able to confirm the total amount raised very shortly, and would like to take this opportunity to thank The Garstang and District Lions for their donation of £200 to add to our total.

“We would also like to thank everyone who supported this event and to everyone who helped with this Strictly spectacular performance.”
