The twist comes at the end of the season when it’s revealed that Love has an equally dark side and has also murdered people.

It’s revealed that love killed Deliah and Candace, telling Joe she did it for family as she was pregnant.

When will filming for the new season begin?

Less than a month after season two was released on Netflix in December 2019, You’s creators confirmed that a third season would follow.

According to What’s On Netflix, season three is anticipated to begin filming in early November 2020, continuing until late April in 2021.

Filming will be carried out in accordance with covid-19 restrictions.

What can we expect from the new series?

A casting grid has confirmed that actors from the last series, Penn Badgley, (playing Joe) Victoria Pedretti, (playing Love) and Saffron Burrows (playing Dottie Quinn) will return for the third season.

A casting call also revealed that the show will feature a “major recurring guest star”.

The recent callout said the character’s name is Dante, and described him as:

“A veteran whose sight was damaged in combat, Dante works at the local library. A step-father to his partner Ted’s two boys, Dante is sarcastic, world-weary, and unfailingly dependable. We are looking for an Actor who is Visually Impaired – this includes LOW VISION (degenerating vision), LEGALLY BLIND or Totally BLIND.”

The teaser for the third season shows Joe moving to a house in the suburbs with a pregnant girlfriend, with the inference that his next victim will be the neighbour next door.

Lead actor Penn Badgley has stated that his character Joe will be looking to get back what he had taken from him in childhood.

The seasons are based on a series of books by author Caroline Kepnes, the first of which is titled “You”. The second book is titled “Hidden Bodies”, while the third, “You Love Me”, will be released in April 2020, around the time filming is predicted to finish.

Showrunner Sera Gamble said of You’s third season in 2019:

“I will say that we have an idea for season three that is SO exciting that people talk about it in the [writer’s] room every day.”

When will the new season be aired?

So far, no official release date has been announced for season three, but given that filming is expected to end in April 2021, the series is likely to be aired in summer or autumn of 2021.

Season one of You was released in September 2018, and season two was released in December 2019. Both seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
