From a gig at the Joiners Arms in Morecambe to a BBC London radio interview with Gaby Roslin, it’s been quite a varied time of late for an up-and-coming singer.
Ashleigh Wood from Bolton-le-Sands is turning heads in the music industry with her powerful country-style voice and has just released her debut single.
‘Tell Me It’s Over’ is a classically-sounding ballad accompanied by a music video filmed on the cliffs at Heysham.
The 21-year-old, originally from Kendal hence her stage name ‘Kendall’, is well known around the area as a pub and club singer at venues in Lancaster and Morecambe.
But with Heysham songwriter Mike Croft and producer James McMillan behind her, even bigger things are expected.
Mike, who has released the track on his label Steep Smithy, said: “We have already played a version to some influential recording people and they have responded very positively.
“It really is a great chance for Ashleigh to make a mark. The song tells a story that will resonate with many listeners and she delivers that story beautifully.”
Mike, Ashleigh and writer/producer Kevin Malpass are working on more songs for an EP which will be ready by the end of summer.
