GUITARIST to the stars Paul Farr is coming to Lancaster next weekend, as part of a jazz series that is firmly embedding itself within the city’s music scene.
Paul, who is based in Manchester, has played for Lily Allen, Tom Jones, Jamelia and Joss Stone, but recently set up The Paul Farr Band, writing and playing his own material.
The band’s drummer is Luke Flowers, of The Cinematic Orchestra, in my eyes the producers of some of the finest soundscapes of recent years.
Bassist Sylvan Richardson has played with jazz giant Andy Sheppard and Simply Red, and the band are on the way to recording their own material.
Expect a night of deliciously tight and hip-shaking grooves, along with shades of funk and filmscape, at the Dalton Rooms next Sunday, from 8.30pm. In the meantime The Convulsions will be rocking the stage this Sunday.
