Tall tales to delight young and old

SOME of the country’s most spellbinding storytellers are to visit Lancaster this spring as part of Litfest’s Chasing Tales series.

Last year, audiences enjoyed four performance storytelling events, which Litfest presented in partnership with the Dukes.

Now Litfest is planning six more events at its home in The Storey in 2011 – with the first two in March.

Litfest artistic director Andy Darby said: “Chasing Tales has been a fantastic addition to Litfest’s programme, and a really thrilling way to enjoy stories.

“I’m looking forward to enjoying the storytelling along with the rest of the audience. These events are a lot of fun.”

Performance storytelling comes with no scripts to memorise, just storytellers with a head full of tales to choose from. Each audience, each venue, is different, so stories are rarely told in the same way twice.
