Taking to the streets for big VE Day party

We were sent this fantastic photograph of a VE Day street party in Lancaster in 1945.

The gathering was in the old Captain’s Row in Skerton, and the celebratory photo was sent in by Brian Simister, now of Backworth in North Tyneside.

Mr Simister, now 76, was even able to give us the names of many of the people pictured.
