Historian Terry Ainsworth has sent in this photograph from Dallas Road School, believed to be dated between 1957-58.

It was passed to Terry by Keith Stockdale, who would later play football at Lancaster Lads’ Club. Keith said that in the 1950s children from Grange-over-Sands used to attend Dallas Road. Why did pupils travel such a distance every day to attend school?

Seated centre on the middle row is the captain, Chris Wright, from Caton, and another from the same village kneeling far right is Peter Dainty, with Keith Stockdale next to him.

On the back row the goalkeeper looks like Bernard Martin, who later played for Cartmel.
