Lancaster ex-professional boxer and former ABA champ Bobby Day became the recipient of an award he didn’t know he had won.
The Essex Ex-Boxers Association had recently enjoyed organising a grand reunion get together in the famous Manor Place Baths in south London for former professional boxers to receive a commemorative medallion. Bobby, who had spent most of his professional career in London during the ‘swinging sixties’, had boxed at the renowned venue in 1964. Local boxing historian Larry Braysher discovered his entitlement to one of the medallions. Larry presented Bobby with his award on behalf of the Essex Ex-Boxers.
