Morecambe’s West End set to glow for Lantern Festival

It’s that time of year again when Morecambe’s West End is lit up with lanterns.

Tuesday, 1st December 2015, 6:00 pm
Morecambe West End Lantern Festival organised by More Music

More Music’s annual Lantern Festival takes place tomorrow with festive illuminations set to throw a different light over the West End.

The festive illuminated procession by the Baybeat Carnival Streetband will travel through the town on Wednesday December 2 from 6pm until 9pm.

Hundreds of people are set to gather, carrying dozens of unique, hand-made, glowing lanterns, parading proudly around the resort.

There will be live music and activities at More Music’s base the Hothouse on Devonshire Road.

Manta Rays, Astral Circus Fire Show, West End Primary School Choir and Sandylands School Choir will be entertaining audiences during the procession.

There will also be a festive grotto and window projections by Ash Murphy.

The event is free and open to all.

Last year’s lantern parade was called off due to bad weather.

The annual event still went ahead but the planned parade of lanterns through the streets was cancelled due to heavy rain and high winds.

Instead the programme of indoor activities took place at The Hothouse.
