Medieval weekend at Lancaster Castle

Step into the 12th Century with a fully immersive medieval experience at Lancaster Castle.

Knights will be invading the magnificent grade 1 listed building and setting up camp this weekend of Saturday and Sunday, July 26 /27.

Authentic medieval tents will be erected within the castle walls and around the surrounding area, giving local peasants the opportunity to see what life was really like in the times of Robin Hood and Richard the Lionheart!

Organised by local historical re-enactment society, Normmanis, the two- day event is aimed to give an insight into medieval living, from the poor to the rich. Visitors can wander in and out of true representative campaign tents, discovering life on the battlefield, including the Earl’s Pavilion.

Crowds will be entertained by medieval musicians, birds of prey, armoury displays, a shire court delivering justice of the times, and a fashion show modelling the entire range of Norman society from the lowest ranks to the highest.

Back your favourite knight at one of two pop up arenas in the ultimate Tourney of Champions, and ‘Clash of the Knights’ tournaments, plus, hear horrible histories tales and myth busters.

Families can even get involved themselves with ‘have a go’ Archery and make your own coin. Or get your nearest and dearest in the stocks for some light-hearted retribution.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day, a medieval menu at NICE @ the Castle Café, and authentic food stalls for you to take the experience home with you!

At just £5 entry per person, this medieval event is one not to be missed.
