Lancaster Castle welcomes master of historical fiction

Conn Iggulden will be giving a talk and signing copies of ‘Trinity’, the second in his series set during the Wars of the Roses, with its ties to the history of Lancaster.

The Roses series depicts an extraordinary period of British history when in a series of wars, the houses of Lancaster and York fought against each other for the throne of England.

Following on from Stormbird, the Sunday Times bestseller, Trinity kicks off in 1454 with King Henry VI all but exiled in Windsor Castle, having been struck down 
by illness for more than a year.

But when the King unexpectedly recovers and returns to London to reclaim his throne, the balance of power is once again thrown into turmoil.

The clash of the Houses of Lancaster and York that ensues will surely mean a war to tear England apart.

Fans of Game of Thrones and The Tudors are set to be gripped from the word go.

Iggulden’s previous two series on Julius Caesar and on the Mongol Khans of Central Asia describe the founding of the greatest empires of their day and were number one bestsellers.

Meet Iggulden, who lives in Hertfordshire with his wife and children, at the Shire Hall on Thursday October 16 from 7pm-9pm.

The event has been organised in conjunction with Waterstones of Lancaster Cornmarket, and tickets are available from both branches in King Street and the Cornmarket, priced £5.
