However, while the average house price in England, according to the latest statistics available, the UK House Price Index for November 2020, is £266,742, properties in Lancaster had an average selling price of £182,500 over 2020.
The average price in Lancaster in November was £165,575, a 2.7 per cent increase on November 2019, when the average price was £161,298.
Property website Rightmove said the majority of sales in Lancaster during the last year were terrace properties, selling for an average price of £141,162. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £198,932, with detached properties fetching £316,371.
Overall, sold prices in Lancaster over the last year were 34 per cent up on the previous year and 2 per cent up on the 2010 peak of £179,240.
