The comedy-rock musical will see 28 cast members all from the Morecambe and Lancaster area perform in the famous show.

Lead roles will be played by Lancaster’s Paul Jones and Heysham’s Emily Prescott. They will be accompanied by Morecambe’s Amy-Jo Clough, Shannon Whittle and Bethany Isherwood who take the role of the street urchins.

All the proceeds from the store-based ticket sales will be donated to Rosemere Cancer Foundation which will fund research being undertaken at the University of Central Lancashire into the detection of skin cancers. Director of the show, Sharon Bell, said: “By the time it reaches the stage, cast and crew will have given up approximately 130 to 140 hours of their time to rehearsals.

“The show is an affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies. It’s one everyone has heard of thanks in part to a very successful and popular film starring Rick Moranis and we are hoping for a sellout over our run.”

This is one of the longest-running off Broadway shows of all time and is even more of a household name after the movie. The star of the show, in many fans’ eyes, is the Plant, famed for his catchphrase, “Feed me!”

There will be one matinee performance on February 28 at 2pm. Other shows will run from February 25 to 28 at 7.30pm. All tickets costs £10. Matinee performance is £8.
