Since leaving school, Terry who was born and brought up in Lancaster, has turned his hand to a vast variety of very different jobs.

He said: “Every author’s supposed to have done a weird and wonderful collection of jobs, and I’ve worked as a zoo keeper, tree surveyor and art gallery attendant, self-employed chimney sweep, record cover artist, water quality controller and computer game designer.”

Jangada’s first chapters were written around 12 years ago.

Terry, who now lives near Stroud in Gloucestershire, said: “The first novel quickly grew into a trilogy centred around the world of Jangada, and the intrigue surrounding the ruler of one of its small floating islands.

“I tried to find a publisher for several years but it’s pretty tough if you’re an unknown author, and I finally decided to go for epublishing.

“The three books are up for download on Kindle and can also be bought on Amazon. I don’t imagine it’ll make me a fortune, but it’s good to see my work published and to get some very positive reviews online.

“Knowing there are people out there who’re willing to give a new author a try is a bit of a relief too!”

Terry’s novels – Lady Catherine’s Diary, Starcross and El! – are available from £3.22 to download or £7.56 if you prefer a proper paperback.
