The Scrapbook project, which was funded by a £10,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, was led by Champion Bowland and brought together more than 100 people who shared their memories and photos of the Forest of Bowland since its designation 50 years ago.

The book celebrates rural life in the AONB since 1964 and has four key themes – village life, major events, visitors and farming life.

Project researcher, Sue Holden, worked with volunteers to uncover some unusual stories and snapshots.

These include first-hand reports and photos of the floods that swept through the villages of Wray and Dunsop Bridge in August 1967.

One farmer told how the sheep on Tarnbrook Fell had their fleeces pecked off by the gulls that roost up there.

The Scrapbook is available from visitor information centres in Garstang and Lancaster, local shops and the AONB Office in Dunsop Bridge.
