Book Club: Author visits local libraries

Local author and renowned poet Christie Cavendish will be signing copies of her first published novel in libraries over the next couple of weeks.

Some of you may know Christie who over the years has participated in Morecambe Amateur Operatic amd Dramatic Society productions at the Grand theatre in Lancaster.

She took part in Morecambe Dance Festival, worked as a legal adviser and debt specialist for the Citizens Advice Bureau, and sat on the board of Governors for Lancaster &Morecambe College.

Over the last seven years, Christie has been a busy entrepreneur selling romantic lingerie.

Her novel, “Family Deceit”, tells the story of eight-year old Katy Sinclair – the unwitting witness to and sole survivor of the brutal assassination of her family and best friend.

The trauma leaves Katy without speech for many years but she gradually begins to recover with the help of her loving uncle.

She is left with a need to know why this happened and also who committed the crime. With the help of a few trusted friends she manages to solve the mystery and 20 years after the crime, Katy invites a number of ‘guests’ to her family home.

As Katy begins to address her unwilling audience, the true horror of what really happened is revealed and the conclusion comes at a terrible price.

Christie will be at Heysham Library on Friday June 7, from 1pm; Morecambe Library on Saturday June 8 from 10.30am 
and Lancaster Library 
on Saturday June 15 from 11am.
