From sedate Georgian splendour to a one-time noisy neighbour.
From Lancaster’s ‘John O’Gaunt’ castle to a fresh air and fun seaside resort.
Both contain secrets and surprises, with quirky tales of the unexpected.
Morecambe is more than shrimps and spectacular moments.
Lancaster’s hidden gems are there to be found and polished.
Lindsay Sutton pulls back the curtain to reveal 111 fascinating and eccentric destinations in Lancaster and Morecambe in his new book ‘111 Places in Lancaster and Morecambe You Shouldn’t Miss’.

. Bradford Tram
It's not something you expect to see....the remains of an old Bradford tram, decomposing in its seaside setting at the edge of a salt marsh. It's now just a pile of rotting wood, but it's the symbolic story behind it that is fascinating to walkers between Sunderland Point and Heysham. Picture by David Taylor. Photo: David Taylor

3. 42 Buxton Street
It could have come straight from a Morecambe and Wise TV script, As Eric might have said: "I was born in the wrong house, you know. Right child, wrong house. Oh yes!" Certainly arrangements for Eric's birth didn't go to plan. A leak in the bedroom roof of the family home at 48 Buxton Street, near Lancaster Road, meant his mother chose to give birth at number 42, home of his aunt. Picture by David Taylor. 4. Debtors' Prison
Lancaster Castle may have had a fearsome reputation for hangings, but for debtors it was called 'Hansbrow's Hotel'. Debtors at 'Hansbrow's' worked in the clockhouse, which was on the ground level, with views out on to the castle courtyard. Picture by David Taylor. Photo: David Taylor
