Ellel Parish Council’s development proposal involves the creation of a graveyard on farmland adjacent and to the east of an existing graveyard, in Chapel Lane, Galgate.

The existing graveyard is in the control of the Parochial Church Council of St John’s Church, but there are only a limited number of grave spaces remaining.

The proposed 334sqm new graveyard would be owned and managed by the Parish Council of Ellel, “in order that parishioners will have the availability and the option of a grave in the future”.

A public footpath through the existing graveyard and across the farmland will be extended, and a stile would be replaced by a new gate, with another gate to the east accessing the footpath again.
