Members of the community have been given a boost this week thanks to Lancaster's Neuro DropIn.

The charity, based next to HMP Lancaster Farms, supports people and their families living with a range of neurological conditions, and its volunteers have been putting a smile on people's faces by bringing surprise deliveries of wellbeing parcels to mark Mental Health Awareness Week and to offer much-needed support to members.

The initiative kicked off with a team of volunteers preparing, packing and delivering afternoon tea treats to 50 people.

Charity founder Sharon Jackson said: "Our project Getting Through Together will be surprising people in the coming weeks, helping alleviate anxiety exacerbated by Covid-19.

"Isolation and loneliness are too often the unseen impact of living with long-term health conditions, especially neurological issues."
